8 January 1941 - Robert Baden-Powell dies in Nyeri

"Every day a good deed" was his life's motto. Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout movement, roamed London as a child. In the mid-19th century, he followed animal tracks in Hyde Park, drew maps and knew the starry sky. Later he explored the poor districts of the English capital.

Scout & Guide postmarks of Switzerland update

In 1912, the first Scout units were founded in our country, but it took until the 1st Swiss. Scout camp in Bern in 1925 before the first official postmark was used on a camp postcard. 3000 scouts took part in this camp from 27.7. to 4.8. and, thanks to the pretty postcards, a relatively large amount of camp mail was dispatched, so that today one can still come across a cover from this first national camp from time to time.

BuLa Story - 6th Swiss Scout National Camp, Domleschg, 1966

27th July – 3rd August 1966, approximatively 15 000 participants

The BuLa Express, a colourfully painted special train of the Rhaetian Railway, connected all sub-camps between Ems and Thusis several times a day as a special attraction. Each of the twelve sub-camp post offices used its own box postmark as an additional postmark with the permission of the post office.
