1955 - 8th World Jamboree - Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada

The 8th World Jamboree was held at Niagara-On-The-Lake in Canada in 1955 - it was the first Jamboree outside Europe! 11'139 scouts from 71 nations were present. The theme was "New Horizons". Remarkable were the large contingents that crossed the Atlantic. Lady Baden-Powell, Sir Rowallan Chief Scout of the British Empire and Vincent Massay Governor General attended the opening ceremony.
