1987/88 - 16th World Jamboree - Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
At the turn of the year 1987/88 Australia invited to the 16th World Jamboree - and 14'434 scouts from over 84 nations accepted this invitation. The motto of the World Jamboree was "Bringing the World Together".
The opening ceremony, held at midnight on 31 December 1987, was also the first official celebration of Australia's 200 years of settlement. Guests of honour were Betty Clay daughter of Lord Baden-Powell and nine direct descendants of the founders of the Scout Movement.
